Day 2
Enjoy delicious breakfast at Crocodile Camp before being transferred for a full day in the Okavango Delta.
Indulge in a full-day Mokoro excursion into the breathtaking Okavango Delta, an immersive journey through its intricate ecosystem. This experience is proudly operated by the Okavango Mokoro Community Trust (OKMCT), and your participation directly supports their conservation endeavors.
Traverse the Okavango Delta, an expanse covering about 15,000 sq. km, shaped by the meandering channels, lagoons, and palm-dotted islands formed by the overflow of the Okavango River. Explore this remarkable inland delta aboard a Mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe cherished for its serene and tranquil passage.
In harmony with conservation efforts, our use of fiberglass canoes, replicating traditional wooden Mokoros, ensures the protection of the Delta’s trees and ecology. Propelled by the ngashi, a guiding pole, the Mokoro Day Trip offers an authentic glimpse into the centuries-old transportation method of the Bayei people in the Delta.
Discover an array of wildlife in this pristine environment, from majestic elephants, hippos, and crocodiles to graceful giraffes, kudus, impalas, and zebras.
All Mokoro excursions are organized through the Okavango Mokoro Community Trust (OKMCT), overseeing this expansive delta region, managing guide and community fees. The community actively engages in sustainable practices such as fishing, reed cutting, and water lily bulb harvesting, where the Mokoro plays an integral role.
We’ll collect you at 8 am from your Maun accommodation, embarking on a scenic 1 hour and 30-minute drive to Boro Mokoro station. From there, immerse yourself in a captivating day exploring the delta’s unique ecosystem. Engage in a guided bush walk on a delta island, offering close encounters with its diverse wildlife.
With a delicious packed lunch, bottled water, and refreshing beverages, we’ll arrange a picturesque picnic on an island, allowing you to savor stunning vistas before our return to Maun in the late afternoon.
Overnight at Crocodile Camp in a air-conditioned room on a dinner/ bed & breakfast basis.
Day 3
Rise early and rendezvous with your guide at Crocodile Camp before embarking on an exhilarating day exploring the wonders of Moremi Game Reserve.
Day safaris to Moremi Game Reserve are very popular with travellers with limited time. A surprising amount of game can be viewed on these trips. From mid-May to mid-August we depart from Maun at 6:30am and return at 6:30pm. The rest of the year the trip starts at 6:00am and we return at 19:00pm. The game drive technically starts once we have passed the Buffalo fence, an hour’s drive from Maun.
You will be provided with a packed breakfast, tea and coffee for a light breakfast stop when you reach the park entrance. You will also have a packed lunch at around 1pm at a picnic spot chosen by your Guide. Bottled water and soft drinks are also provided, and a cooler box with ice for any extra drinks you may wish to bring.
The wildlife highlights differ from day-to-day and amongst such are leopard, lion, wild dog, hyena, kudu, waterbuck, giraffe, zebra, elephant, buffalo, and impala – to name a few.
Birdlife is quite amazing in the area with birds such as secretary bird, hornbill, lapwing, vulture, African jacana, African fish eagle, hamerkop, kori bustard, lilac breasted roller, and crested crane amongst many other species.
