ACCOMMODATION
Guests at Camp Savuti will discover their haven in private and serene Meru-style tents. Five individual tents are gracefully positioned on elevated wooden platforms, providing a heightened vantage point for overseeing the channel.
Each unit boasts a secluded wooden veranda, complete with seating for two, extending an invitation for guests to unwind and become fully immersed in their natural surroundings. Inside, the tents feature carpeted floors that introduce a touch of warmth, and the twin or king-size beds, adorned with headboards and dressed in pure cotton linens, promise a rejuvenating sleep.
AMENITIES
Thoughtfully designed shelving space, a secure safe, a dressing table, and an ensuite bathroom, featuring a sunken bath alongside the outdoor, open-air shower, elevate the comfort and convenience of the accommodations. A canvas curtain ingeniously separates the bathroom from the main bedroom area, offering the flexibility to draw it closed for privacy or secure it back.
This accommodation adeptly balances cozy comfort, particularly suited for cooler weather, with an airy ambiance that warmly welcomes the balmy months from September to December. For added comfort during hot days, standing fans provide cooling within the tents, ensuring a refreshing and tranquil space. Guests are invited to recline and rejuvenate within the confines of their quarters, all while beholding the captivating spectacle of wildlife congregating at the channel.
For families traveling with younger children who wish to stay together, we offer a family unit. This unit comprises two interconnected rooms, with one room featuring a bathtub and the other equipped with a shower. The sleeping arrangement consists of one twin bed and one king-size bed. Both rooms include private balconies that overlook the waterhole, providing a scenic view.
Embark on exhilarating game drives aboard open safari vehicles crowned with obligatory canvas roofs, all under the guidance of knowledgeable rangers. Experience the electrifying proximity to predators, observing them in their natural habitat. Alternatively, marvel at the sight of resident elephants or observe the diverse plains game that calls this area home.
There is plenty to explore, from expansive savannahs to undulating grasslands and the dry channel itself. The areas around the respective hillocks are perfect for seeking out that elusive leopard, infusing this sector of the park with vibrant wildlife activity. To the west of Camp Savuti, toward the Linyanti, is an area where Wild dogs have denned for a number of years. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to visit Camp Savuti and witness the wild dogs denning again. The Savuti is recognized as one of Africa’s prime locations to spot the rare and endangered African wild dog.
A number of pans are also scattered throughout the area, some natural and others pumped for water. During the dry months, these water-filled pans become magnets for wildlife, often with lions never straying too far away.
During the winter seasons, safari-goers frequently encounter various wildlife species, including warthogs, kudus, impalas, zebras, wildebeests, and herds of elephants. In the summer season, the park’s rich birdlife, totaling 450 species across the entire park, takes center stage. Sightings of prides of lions, hyenas, zebras, and occasionally cheetahs are also common. This region is renowned for the annual migration of zebras and predators.
